Remember me telling you all about the (http://activerain.com/blogsview/286712/This-is-How-a) time I went to my open house and a picture had fallen on the wood floor (dented it too) and glass was all over the place!!! Oh My! My stager had gone by to check the house, called me and said, "Here's what happened but not to worry, I'm getting my vacuum and it'll be all cleaned up before you get there" (This is one way a stager earns my business for life).
WELL, since that time, I had constantly struggled with the issue of art and how to get it up there with minimal impact on the wall but so it will hold whatever weight I need. Voila - TV had the answer... heavy duty wall hangers, Hercules rings, DRYWALLHOOKS.
The people who invented them (the original was invented in 1992 by an uncle of the young men who now run the family owned company) had an informercial. So I gave them a try.
They hold up to 150 pounds... positively, well I've tried not quite that much, because I didn't want to push my luck, but heavy large mirrors, etc... and they are amazing. I know Joanne O'Donnell of Chic Home Interiors in Oakland uses them in her staging too. They are mighty. A small tool that makes a HUGE difference in speed, and best of all no additional tools needed and easy to patch the tiny (really tiny) hole when you remove them. I LOVE these hooks. And, I might add, have never had a picture fall off the wall since that incident.
Testimonials include;
"I am a former gallery owner and so sorry I did not know about this wonderful product while I owned the gallery. The time I would have saved would have been priceless. The ease and strength are beyond compare."
-Paul Posillico
"I love these hooks! I am a home stager and use them on almost every house I do. They really save me time."
-Mary Bowles, Colorado
I wouldn't recommend them to you if I didn't use them. To find THE original Heavy Duty Drywall hooks go to www.stagersLIST.com under props. We've negotiated a deal that you won't find anywhere 20 hooks for $7.91 but only for 60 days, so stock up. These young men have been fantastic to work with and feel obligated to carry on their uncle's work. They are an honest, family run business with quality product.

I remember that incident, not pretty. I am going to have to try these, since I'm always changing my mind & moving stuff, it's better to make little holes than big ones.
I am constantly wanting to change pictures around and I have three that actually are pretty heavy and my husband scfrews them into the wall, so that means I cannot move them when i want too. Definitely going to have to get some of those just for that purpose. It is hard to find something small but yet strong enough to hold something heavy especially on a wall! Thanks for sharing that Terrylynn, great info for anyone who hangs things up and I think that is everyone!
These Hercules hooks are the greatest! I use them personally at home and for my staging jobs. I have used then for heavy framed mirrors and for all types of artwork. They haven't failed me yet!
Thanks for the tip! I'll look them up!
I see Chris gets her pretty face from her momma!
I have seen them on TV while surfing at different times. I think they were on one of the shopping channels. Nice to hear they really work.
Terrylynn, Thank you for the information, I have heavy pictures I would love to hang up but old plaster walls..and terrified of those cracks. I'm going to see if these hooks will work with them.
We also use them ALL the time! My husband the 'art' hanger never wants to use anything else...A worthwile investment for your staging inventory!
Love them... love them. Just make sure on plaster walls, that you put a piece of blue tape on first. I often use push pins... and then push it through the plaster with tape when it is perfecto!
Worthwhile and an amazing price! Can't find them cheaper so buy 12 dozen packages as this price is only good for 60 days! Kym
Terrylynn your timing is so ironic, I ordered some (50) from the companys website last week and they came today, seriously I couldn't make this stuff up! I have a fairly heavy picture in my office that was gifted to me, think I will try hanging that and order some from your website, going there now to check it out.
This is terrific! I've never seen these, and there are so many times that clients ask how to hang things with minimal impact on the walls.
Chris, Marey, Susan, Gene, Carole, Gretchen ---- try them, you won't be sorry. I love when people put their minds into inventing just the right thing. I am sure uncle had an aunt that lost a precious picture or mirror to a falling out nail...amazing product.
Nancy, here, here, glad to hear I'm not the only one that really believes in this product. It is such a little thing but makes such a big difference when hanging those precious pieces not to have to worry about them falling.
Susan, oh Susan, why thanks so much. You should see the three of us together, me, Chris and granddaughter, Rhiannon...it's uncanny actually if you look at each of our photos at 10 years old where Rhiannon is now...we could be triplets, well not exactly, but close. It's a bit scarey really, like looking in the mirror...Chris is always warning me about the oldest daughter of the oldest daughter of the oldest daughter and the power of the third power of the goddess...should I be worried? NAHHHH
Ronelle, I hear you. Glad you are finding them all they promise. Amazing such a little thing, such a big difference.
I've used them lots, they really work. I've never had a picture fall yet, but I've had them cracked while in transport.
Terrylynn,
I want some right now! And thanks to Kym for her blue tape trick. Artwork is esential for good staging, but there are so many people (men) who get positively freaked out at the thought of making thiniest of holes in a wall.
They also freak out when it comes to painting wood, any wood no matter how mundane, but that's another story.
They look really easy to insert and remove, Terrylynn. The direction of the curve in the base hook is a great design feature. A great item for the house ! Thanks for the post. Hope you have a great week.
Susan, I didn't know about the blue tape trick either, good pointer, huh? Thanks for stopping by. ps. still waiting on your outline? (like you have nothing to do)
David - they ARE... you just twist and they go in...it's amazing. You'll never use nails again...like the commercial says, but it's true. I like it when what they say is not exaggerated, only how does everyone else know as so many commercials are exaggerated. Thanks for stopping by and you have a great week too.
Terrylynn, what a great tip. I always find such great information on the stager's forum. ;-)
Hi Terrylynn
Thank you so much for the tip on the heavy duty dry wall hooks. I to seem to move pictures and mirrors around. A little hole is much easier to fix then a large one. A peace of mind using these is worth a lot. Just to know every thing is going to be OK when you return.
Lynette
Thanks Terrylynn-I started using them and love them too.
I have used them for a long while and really like like them. The only slight problem I have had is when they get snagged in the insulation behind the drywall as you insert them.
Terrylynn! These are just amazing! My sons call them fish hooks! I did try to use one last week however on a firewall and it would not go through...so we leaned the artwork - which is a good look too!
Lady, Lynette, Michelle, Kathy, thanks for stopping by and reaffirming my favorite product...glad they work for you.
Bought them, love them using them this week! Kym
Margaret yeah there are a couple of places they don't work so well, but a huge help with the size of holes in an average wall. Thanks for stopping in to comment.
